I am truly privileged

and appreciative of this opportunity to become so knowledgeable with a radioactive isotope I hope to work with in the future. Originally, I thought this assignment would be arduous, challenging and far-fetched. I am amazed how much enjoyment I found throughout this assignment. 

 

 

The medical applications

of 123-Iodine came as a shock to me. There are so many astonishing benefits just from one of Iodine’s isotopes. I never would imagine just one isotope of Iodine served so many meaningful purposes in medical imaging! Iodine is fundamental in Nuclear Medicine by increasing medical imaging of the thyroid more than any other isotope. In diagnostic uses, 123-I is used as a tracer to track progress, help rule out other diseases that may have similar symptoms presenting,  find or confirm the presence of neuroendocrine tumors and so much more!

 

 

I am thankful for this assignment

and the knowledge it brought- I know too many informative facts about Iodine. I hope to see 123-Iodine used more in the hospital/clinical settings in the near future! If 123 were more affordable I believe it would be the main source for all relative images. It is so inspiring to see what the future holds and I cannot wait to gain more insight in this enormous world of Nuclear Medicine. Hopefully I will be able to see what it brings first hand. We all know Nuclear Medicine will become and remain on the forefront of Medical Healthcare due to constant technological and medical advancements, despite the current job market for NucMed Techs right now.
